Backbite” the short fiction film directed by Saleh Alavizadeh, has been selected to screen and compete in the “Whistler Film Festival”.

The Whistler Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada—the 2024 edition runs from December 4th to December 8th. The festival showcases a diverse range of programming, including features, shorts, and Mountain Culture films. It’s known for presenting Oscar contenders, Canadian films, and award-winning international stories.

“Backbite” is the story of a grieving mother who, driven to vengeance by her son’s homosexual relationship and suicide, prepares a ritualistic meal using the flesh of her son’s lover, blurring the lines between grief and horrifying justice.
